Common Methods
of Estate Planning

Just as there is no one size shirt or shoe to fit everyone, so there is not a "one-size fits all" for Estate Planning.

To determine the corrrect method of an Estate Plan for you, you should, of course, research the subject as much as you desire.  However, regardless of the research you do, you will still need to visit an Estate Planning attorney to determine what, of many alternatives, is the best for you and your situation.

Just about all attorneys prepare wills for their clients.  Unfortunately, these are just stock forms as a general rule.  You may as well go to Legal-zoom or some other website.  (See the section on Internet forms.)  In fact, in some cases you may get a comparable product at a cheaper price if you do get a form off the internet.

Because Estate Planning is a complex area of the law and includes issues of wills, trusts, probate, taxes, business law, and many other areas of law, it is always recommended that you meet with an attorney who concentrates in the area of Estate Planning instead of going to an attorney who has a general practice.
