Keys to Estate Planning
In our practice, there are three keys to Estate Planning. These three Keys must exist for estate planning to be successful.
First Key – Love
Estate Planning is not done for you, it is done for your loved ones. If you approach Estate Planning without Love, it will be poorly conceived and executed, and it will probably cause many more problems than if you had not done it at all.
Second Key – Comfort
Estate Planning is an extremely complicated and complex subject which you, as a non-lawyer, will probably never fully understand. But that is all right, because that is why an attorney is handling your Estate Plan. Your comfort comes in knowing and trusting your attorney. If matters are fully explained to you and you trust the person who created your Estate Plan, you will be able to sleep well at night knowing everything is taken care of – that is the real meaning of Comfort.
Third Key – Control
Who do you want controlling your assets and the other important issues of your life? If you do not take the proper measures, you are basically giving up all control to the court system. And the important question is, why would you ever want to put something so important in the control of the government?
At Cutchin Law Firm, we create Estate Plans to minimize, if not totally eliminate, all government control from your estate. It is your life, your assets, and your values; therefore, you need to control them.
