The Design Meeting
Each Estate Plan is unique because each of my clients is unique. The purpose of the design meeting is to meet with you to determine how you would like to handle the many variables in the plan.
The variables
The variables in a plan require you to seriously consider the people in your life and how you would like them to take care of you and how you would like to take care of them.
Examples of the variables are:
-
Who will take your place in handling the assets should something happen to you?
-
Then, what if something happened to that person, who would next be in line?
-
Who determines if you are disabled?
-
Who will be the guardians of your minor children?
-
If you are married and you die, do you want your spouse’s next spouse to control the money left to your spouse?
-
If not, what do you want to happen?
-
What measures are needed to take care of your spendthrift child?
-
What is the best way to protect your IRA for your children?
These examples just begin to touch the surface of issues you will need to address. With our experience, we are able to assist and guide you through these discussions. We are very sensitive to the fact that these are major decisions for you, and we work with you in every way.
