Estate planning services - Advanced Medical Directives

Healthcare Power of Attorney - This is a document valid in most States which allows you, while you are competent, to choose someone you love and trust to make medical decisions for you. The Healthcare Power of Attorney is usually only in effect when you are not capable of making your own decisions, such as during surgery or while unconscious from an automobile accident. This document allows someone close to you to make the same medical decisions you would make if you were able.

Living Will - A Living Will, or a Declaration of Natural Death in some States, is a document which allows you to make your wishes known ahead of time concerning the continuation or removal of medical treatment in certain conditions. These conditions are usually after you have been examined by more than one doctor, and all the doctors determine to a medical certainty that you are either permanently unconscious or you have a terminal condition and death will result in a reasonably short period of time. The purpose of a Living Will is to allow you to make the decision about your own life, rather than requiring loved ones to make the decision at a time they will be emotional and upset. More
