Women in Business
Importance of women-owned businesses
Nationally, there are approximately 10.4 million private firms which are fully or majority owned by women. These firms had about $1.9 trillion in annual sales.
In South Carolina, over 40% of all privately held firms are fully or majority owned by women, and South Carolina is the 7th best state in the United States for growth in women-owned businesses.
Special concerns for women
Women and men actually have the same concerns about business. The problem is not with women, but with the society we live in. There has been too much of the “good ole boy” syndrome and, as a result, women have not been taught as much about business because the a woman's job was to stay at home.
As the statistics above show, the old stereotype about women not being in business is disappearing, although not fast enough.
At Cutchin Law Firm, we believe in women in business
At Cutchin Law Firm, we feel everyone has a right to start and operate a business, regardless of gender. We spend a lot of time discussing business situations with our female clients. There are often opportunities of which clients are unaware. Other times, our clients just need a “sounding board.” And again, some of our clients have wonderful ideas, but they would also like an objective and analytical review of their thoughts.
We believe in women in business. If there is anything we can do from a legal perspective to assist you in your business operations, please contact us.
